♞ Royal Chess Sort — Privacy Policy

An 8CROSS8 game · Last updated: 21 July 2026

The short version

Royal Chess Sort collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no ads, and no tracking that identifies you. We do collect small, anonymous, aggregate usage numbers and cookieless page-view counts — both described below — to see which levels are too easy or too hard and whether anyone is finding the game, never anything about you individually.

What is stored, and where

Your game progress — current level, stars, daily-challenge streak, sound and theme preferences — is stored only on your own device using your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else.

Anonymous usage statistics

The first time you play, your device generates a random ID — not your name, email, or any personal information, just a random string with no way to trace it back to you. This ID exists for one reason: so our aggregate counters don't count the same device twice.

Using it, we keep simple running totals — how many devices have played, roughly how long people play for, how many people reach each level, and how many complete or fail it. These are stored as anonymous counters only: we cannot use this ID to look up an individual's history, and no IP address, location, or device fingerprint is collected alongside it.

Page-view analytics

We also run our own copy of Umami, an open-source analytics tool, on our own servers, to see how many people find the game at all. Nothing is sent to third-party analytics or ad companies, and it sets no cookies. For each visit it records only the page viewed, the referrer (the site you came from, if any), your country, and your browser and device type. Your IP address is used solely to derive the country and to group page views into a single visit for the day; it is never stored.

What we can see

Nothing that identifies you. The game is a static website served from Vercel; like any web host, Vercel may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) needed to deliver the site. We do not access, collect, or store this information ourselves.

Sharing

The Share button composes a text message on your device. Nothing is shared unless you choose to send it through an app you pick.

Children

The game is suitable for all ages and, as described above, collects no data from anyone — including children.

Deleting your data

Clear your browser's site data for this website (or uninstall the app) and your progress and anonymous ID are gone — a new random ID is generated if you play again. Note that anonymous counts already merged into our aggregate totals (e.g. "how many people reached level 20") aren't stored per-device after the fact, so there's nothing individual left to delete from them — the same way you can't un-count a single vote from an election total.
