Privacy

Applies to every game on games.8cross8.com and to our Android apps that wrap them. Last updated 18 August 2026.

The short version

• No accounts, no sign-in. You never give us your name, email or any personal detail.
• No cookies. We don’t use cookies or advertising or tracking identifiers, so there is nothing to consent to.
• Your progress stays on your device. Streaks, statistics and settings are stored in your browser’s local storage. Clearing site data removes them; a backup code (in each game’s statistics screen) lets you move them yourself.
• Anonymous usage counts only. To see how many people play and how hard the puzzles are, we count events such as “a puzzle was started”, “solved on Hard with 3 backtracks in 2 minutes” or “shared”. These counts contain no identifier and cannot be linked to you.

What is collected, exactly

We run our own copy of Umami, an open-source analytics tool, on our own servers. Nothing is sent to third-party analytics or ad companies. For each visit it records:

• page viewed, referrer (the site you came from, if any), country and browser/device type;
• anonymous game events (game, puzzle number, level, result, number of backtracks, time taken, whether the result was shared, and a coarse streak bucket such as “7–29 days”).

Your IP address is used only to derive the country and to group page views into a single visit for the current day; it is never stored. Umami’s own telemetry to its makers is switched off.

Optional features

• Sharing. The share button builds a short text (your result and a link) that you may paste anywhere. Nothing is sent by us.
• Chess Brick leaderboard. If you choose to submit a score, the nickname you type and your score are stored on our server so others can see the ranking. Don’t use your real name if you don’t want it shown.
• Android apps. When we publish Play Store versions, they are thin wrappers around these web pages and collect nothing beyond what is described above (Play data-safety: no personal data collected, no data shared).

Children

The games are suitable for all ages and collect no personal information from anyone.
